Summer week over at Tando Creative........

Hi Folks,

I was lucky enough to grow up in the coastal town of Looe in Cornwall and the majority of my school summer holidays were spent on local beaches! Happy memories of my Mum sunbathing while I played and swam to my hearts content. The fab picnics she used to make were always a bonus too!

Anyways, I chose to have a play with a mixed media board to see if I could epitomise my summers..........

Blue skies, golden sand, ice-creams and seagulls do it for me! I lost many an ice-cream to a greedy opportunist seagull too!!

Here is what I used along with some summer themed stamps from my stash.....

Mixed Media Boards 74mm x 138mm

Mini Mask - Distressed Sequins

Fridge Magnet

Hi all,

here is my make for this weeks Layers challenge over on the Tando blog.............

Lol sorry for the wonky pic, typical of me in general really!!!!!!

I started with one of the 74mm-138mm mixed media boards and put a layer of modelling paste through the Cogs Group Mask.
Once the paste was dry I added a thin layer of Decoart Gesso followed by a layer of Cobalt Teal Decoart Media fluid acrylic.
I replaced the mask and stippled a mixture of other fluid acrylics through in patches until I was happy with the result.

Elements from the Steampunk Wings and Cogs set and the Cogs Grab Bag were painted, again in Decoart fluid acrylic, and attached as shown. The word was added as I felt it needed one lol!

I have attached a magnetic strip to the back of the board and this is now brightening up my fridge as a fridge magnet.

Many thanks for popping by today, your time is much appreciated.

Hugs

Heat it up.........

Hi All,

I love the 'magic' of embossing powder (lol my children are fascinated by it too!!) and how versatile it can be for stamping and masking/stenciling with.

I have made a hanging using the centre of the arch that I used for last weeks make, which can be seen here if you fancy a peek.

Texture paste was applied through the Long Flourish mask. Once dry a couple of coats of acrylic were added. A text stamp from my stash was used next with embossing ink and silver embossing powder. The mask was then placed over the modelling paste, embossing ink was used through the mask, the mask was removed and the relief pattern was embossed in silver. The edge of the hanging has been fully embossed too! A butterfly from the small bugs set was decorated and added for interest and a small stamped sentiment was added to finish.

Here is what I used......

Arches - Straight edged large

Bug Set 1 Small

Colour Theme week over at Tando

HI Everyone,

This is my June colour theme make for the weekly challenge over on the Tando blog.

I had a play with the fabulous large straight edged arch. This comes in a pack of 2, each with three parts - the base, the frame and the frame centre (I'll show you what I did with the centre next week).

I started by adding the circles, which came from the round grid to the frame, once dry this, and the base, were primed and painted with acrylics. I used a  texture stamp from my stash and stamped randomly on the base with a coordinating acrylic paint. A crackle stamp was used to add some more detail to the frame too. I then stippled the 2 base acrylic colours carefully onto the circles on the frame to tie the piece together.
Octopode Factory's Cheshire cat  and a sentiment were stamped and added to the arch to finish.

Here is what I used.....

Arches - Straight edged large

Grid - Round

MDF Shelf.......

Hi everyone,

it's Home Decor week over on the Tando blog and I'm here today to show you my take on the wonderful and sturdy MDF shelf that is available to play with.........

I decided to mix and match between paint and paper on this one and I'm soooo happy with how it's turned out - clean and simple but bright and cheerful!.

A heart stamp from my stash was used on some leftover paper to create some additional embellishments and I then finished off with some small dots of perfect pearls to create a border around the painted sides.

Here is what I used.........
