Am I weird...................

................for finding the packaging more inspiring than the item inside it????????

Ha ha ha ha ha I fancied a play with something other than a journal/altered book page for a change so I fished out a board book blank to tackle!!!! Strangely enough though I found the cardboard backing sheet and the acetate cover more appealing so I made a giant reversible tag instead LOL........

The first side was gessoed then painted yellow. Once this was dry I covered the whole tag again with orange paint and 'ragged' the surface with a scrunched up bit of kitchen roll to create some texture. Lots of stenciling followed before I added some elements from my scrap box to finish the decoration.
Stamp credits go to Paperartsy, Do Lally Pip, and a freebie Christmas tree stamp from Craft Stamper which made some fab bunting!!

The second side was gessoed before I applied some modelling paste through 2 TCW stencils. Lots of paint applied next with some delicate stamping to add more interest and texture. The dragonfly was stamped on the acetate with stazon and coloured lightly with promarkers. The flowers were die-cut with a Sizzix die from green patterned vellum.
Stamp credits go to Tattered Angels and Hero Arts.

Hmmmmmm, maybe I will attack the actual board book one day - who knows!!!!!!!!

Many thanks for popping by and leaving a comment if you feel you would like to, your time and thoughts are very much appreciated.

Hugs

Dawn x

How fab to see you out of a journal for a change! I love the layered backgrounds with the stencilling and then the stamped images. You need to do more of these! No, you're not weird but I would say that because I save so much packaging and as my other half says 'rubbish' so I wouldn't dare say you are weird! (I already know I am and I'm thinking of making a badge to wear and let everyone else know too!!).
I will be a better blogger/friend once this move is out of the way - promise!!
Love & hugs,
Juliaxxx
Hope all is well with you and yours too.xx

Yep - packaging is often more interesting! I LOVE these tags...they're so fun and full of layers and layers.

I even have Dan saving everything and asking me before he throws anything away....he never knows what's going to catch my eye!

I've been known to buy a product for the packaging, especially if it's a tin. Love the big tag you made. It's fantastic.

Oh so interesting what we see as valuable. Yes I sometimes find that the packaging is way more interesting than what's inside. Love these tags....sweet dragonfly. Keep up beong your true true. xox

You're not weird, I'm used to collect the packaging and rummaging through the erm bins ;-)

Your tag is lovely, I adore all those dimensional details!

I can't tell how big it is but I certainly can tell how great it is - I really like this. Have you got it hung around the house somewhere, so visitors can see it too?
